Mentoring/Conference Grant for Young ICOM members

Opportunities for Young ICOM members (Mentoring Grants):


National Committees are invited to identify and support younger members
of the profession who are ICOM members to attend International
Committee/Regional Organizations/Affiliated Organizations’ meetings
(younger is defined as 35 years old or younger, but does not include
students) which might take place until the end of December 2007.

Each National Committee may identify up to 2 persons; they must write
an explanation as to why the person(s) would benefit from attending the
meeting of the International Committee/Regional
Organizations/Affiliated Organization; travel, subsistence and
accommodation assistance of up to €2000 per person may be applied
for. If the National Committee wishes, it may choose to focus the
assistance on a single candidate, to the maximum of €4 000.

Candidates must be practicing museologists and already be a member of
an International Committee. Applications must include a CV of the
candidate and a letter from them indicating their interest and why they
believe their attendance and participation will benefit their career
and their National Committee.

Mentoring grants may also be used to attend international
committee/regional organization/affiliated organization meetings to be
held during the General Conference in Vienna from the 20th to 22nd
August 2007.

As stated above, the Mentoring Grants will cover travel, subsistence
and accommodation in Vienna, from the 19th to the 23rd August 2007, and
the registration fee (if any) charged by the committee/organisation.
Applicants wishing to attend the full programme of the General
Conference must cover its registration cost on their own.

Total amount available: €60 000
Deadline for application: In order to enable applicants to attend
meetings, applications will be accepted immediately. They will be
reviewed upon arrival receipt by a working group of Council and
Secretariat, and notification will be 4 weeks maximum following receipt
of the application.
