Call: Paved Arts seeking Pure Data artists/students

PUREDATA
A collaboration between Artengine (Ottawa) & PAVED Arts (Saskatoon)
with mentors/instructors:
DARSHA HEWITT (OTTAWA)
ALEXANDRE QUILLY (MONTREAL)
IAN CAMPBELL (SASKATOON)

I WANT TO
Invent strange new music
Build a video mixer from the ground up
Make a sculpture connected to the internet
Design a virtual tree that grows
Invent a new kind of drawing
Make sound come out of a painting
Make a video that's different every time it plays
Design a motion controlled camera


This program will provide support for 3-5 artists to learn how to
program in
the puredata programming environment for the creation of projects
involving
real-time audio/video processing. Highly regarded puredata experts
Alexandre
Quilly and Darsha Hewitt will take beginners through a 2 month (May
5-Jun
23) series of weekly workshops to create projects and cover topics such
as
live video mixing, interfacing robotics, interactive sound design, and
sensor interfacing. Participants will meet with the mentors face to
face on
May 5, followed by subsequent web conference meetings. Participating
artists
will receive cost free access to PAVED Arts equipment and technical
support.

Please include a one page written project proposal.
(NOTE: Participants may have to supply their own equipment depending on
specialization.)
