Position: Educator

The MacLaren Art Centre seeks an innovative Educator with passion and a deep
commitment to encouraging formal and informal learning through the visual
arts.

The cultural focus of one of North America's fastest-growing cities,
MacLaren Art Centre is a creative, community-centred public Art Gallery
housed in an award-winning facility within view of Lake Simcoe in Barrie,
Ontario. The emphasis of our collection of 26,000 works includes Canadian
and international paintings, contemporary and historical sculpture and 20th
Century photography.

You are a leader who wants to build on MacLaren Art Centre's well
established art education programmes in the community and the gallery. You
want to engage the community, enhance existing relationships and build new
ones. You enjoy working with enthusiastic staff, energetic volunteers and an
experienced Board. You will strive to incorporate professional practice,
public education and community engagement into all MacLaren Art Centre's
education programming. You are a skilled communicator who will contribute to
the public image of the gallery and advocate for the visual arts. You
embrace the chance to engage with children and families, educators and
artists, the community, museum professionals and the media.

You have a record of achievement that includes designing and leading
education programmes, writing, and developing successful collaborative
relationships, all of which demonstrate a willingness and ability to think
differently. Your qualifications include a relevant degree and senior arts
education experience.
