PLATFORM Centre for Photographic and Digital Arts
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
DIRECTOR
PLATFORM; a dynamic artist-run centre for photographic and digital art,
seeks candidates for the position of Director to begin as soon as possible.
The ideal candidate will have a strong and committed relationship to
artist-run culture, a sophisticated understanding of contemporary
lens/photo/digital based arts practices, and will be responsible for the
overall leadership, management and public representation of the
organization. The Director will build on PLATFORM's history as one of the
oldest artist run centres in Western Canada, developing the organization's
profile locally, regionally and nationally.
The Director reports to the Board of Directors and will work in tandem with
a part-time Administrative Coordinator.
The responsibilities of the Director include:
Implementation of PLATFORM's mandate and vision in conjunction with Board of
Directors and committees
Management and administration of the organization
Grant-writing with the support of Administrative Coordinator
Fundraising and resource development in collaboration with the Board of
Directors
Representation of the organization to arts institutions, community
organizations and funders
Direction of communications, visual identity, web presence and media profile
Membership liaison and development
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational, interpersonal and supervisory skills
Management and administrative experience in artist-run centres and/or
cultural organizations
Experience with grant-writing, budgeting and financial statements in
non-profit organizations
Familiarity with artist-run culture, contemporary art and independent
photo/digital art practice
Experience working with Boards of Directors, member-based organizations and
volunteers
A salary of $27,000 will be offered for this position, based on a 30-hour
workweek.
