Call: aceartinc is accepting gallery proposals

aceartinc. is accepting proposals to be considered for the our 2009 -2010 programming year.
Running July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010.
Please review submission guidelines before submitting your proposal.

Regular Programming is created through submissions that seek the support of aceartinc's facilities and services for public presentation.

aceartinc. is dedicated to cultural diversity in its programming and to this end encourages applications from contemporary artists and curators identifying as members of GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered), Aboriginal (status, non-status, Inuit and Metis) and all other culturally diverse communities. aceartinc encourages proposals from individuals, groups and collectives in all visual arts media.

Regular Programming submissions are solicited through a general annual national call with a deadline of August 1st. The Selection Committee reviews submissions within the context of aceartinc's mandate and goals and makes recommendations to the board within 4 weeks of the deadline. [The Selection Committee is comprised of the Programming Coordinator, 1-2 Board Members, and 2 Community Members.]

When preparing your proposal, please keep in mind that each jury member receives and reviews a photo-copy of your written materials before they view your visual support material. It is to your advantage to provide written materials that are easily readable after being photocopied. Submissions that do not follow the below will be edited as such for jury to review (ie. CVs going over 2 pages).

We advise for those who do not know our establishment, to get a sense of what we've done, visit our web archives.

1. a current CV with current contact info(no more than 2 pages)
2. an artist and or curatorial statement (no more than 1 page)
3. a project proposal. note: if project is in development, please present support about the development as well as related past work
4. schedule of activities (if applicable)
5. an equipment list or itemization of special technical needs if applicable
6. image list (no more than 1 page)
7. Self- Addressed Sufficiently-Stamped Envelope (S.A.S.E.): Due to excessive costs for the gallery, your submission will not be returned without one. For return of Slides/CD-R/DVD only, please ensure correct postage for those items. Dossiers that are not claimed or pre-stamped will not be kept.
8. Support materials: up to 20 images (inc. total of 20 for group submissions)

**CD-R images must be as jpegs 72dpi, 1024 x 768 pixel, 500k (.5 MB) RGB or SRGB only. NO POWER POINT PLEASE!

Call: ACE Art seeks member's artwork for group "Winter Warmer" show/sale

WINTER WARMER: Members' Art Show & Sale
CALL TO MEMBERS...

Deadline for entries: November 17th before 5pm.

Winter Warmer is an all member show, where we will exhibit your work of any medium. There are no artist fees
paid for artists in this show, however all artists will have an opportunity to sell their work and will receive 100% of the sale.

Some specifications to enter artwork (details avail. on our web):

> You must be a member of aceartinc. to participate. The Winter Warmer Special, member’s fee $10.00.
> One large (no larger then 5ft x 5ft) or three small (no larger then 1ft x 1ft ea.) work of any medium.
> Artists should include their name, email & phone number, title, date of the piece made and sale price with their work whenhanded in.
> Note to out of town members: ace does not provide delivery of artwork to or from gallery.
> If special equipment for the presentation of your work is needed or work is outside size specs

> Late submissions are very difficult for the gallery to accommodate. Please make sure to bring your work in before 5pm, 17th November, 2006.

Call: VideoPool is seeking submissions for a touring screening

Call for Submissions:
Video Pool is now accepting curatorial proposals for a touring screening

Deadline: October 1, 2007
Video Pool is accepting proposals for a 60 - 90 minute thematic package of
single channel videos. This opportunity is open to
established, emerging or first-time curators in Winnipeg and beyond. All
thematic approaches will be considered, however, special
consideration will be given to projects that present the work of Aboriginal
and culturally diverse artists.

The purpose of the package is to unify artworks with an engaging theme and
to provide theoretical context for Video Pool's media arts
holdings. The package is intended to promote independent media artists
distributed by Video Pool, with a focus on developing
international audiences.

The curator is responsible for selecting the works to be included in the
package, writing a 2000 word contextual essay, overseeing the
design of discursive and promotional materials, the creation of summary
reports and contacting host venues for the tour of the
package. The curator may also choose to travel with the package, dependent
on funding, in order to introduce the package.
The successful curator will work with Video Pool Distribution Department,
reporting on a monthly basis, to coordinate and execute
the tour.

Pending funding approval, the curator will receive a total of $3000 for
creating the package, submitting an essay and arranging the
tour. Video Pool will also support the curator's travel as required.
Proposals will be reviewed by a jury made up of Video Pool Staff,
Board and Producers Group Members.

A statement of curatorial intent, including how the package will promote the
purchase/rental of Video Pool titles internationally
A proposed list of titles for inclusion in the program
A professional resumé or CV

Job: PLATFORM seeks a Director

PLATFORM Centre for Photographic and Digital Arts
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
DIRECTOR

PLATFORM; a dynamic artist-run centre for photographic and digital art,
seeks candidates for the position of Director to begin as soon as possible.

The ideal candidate will have a strong and committed relationship to
artist-run culture, a sophisticated understanding of contemporary
lens/photo/digital based arts practices, and will be responsible for the
overall leadership, management and public representation of the
organization. The Director will build on PLATFORM's history as one of the
oldest artist run centres in Western Canada, developing the organization's
profile locally, regionally and nationally.


The Director reports to the Board of Directors and will work in tandem with
a part-time Administrative Coordinator.


The responsibilities of the Director include:


Implementation of PLATFORM's mandate and vision in conjunction with Board of
Directors and committees
Management and administration of the organization

Grant-writing with the support of Administrative Coordinator

Fundraising and resource development in collaboration with the Board of
Directors

Representation of the organization to arts institutions, community
organizations and funders

Direction of communications, visual identity, web presence and media profile

Membership liaison and development

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:


Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational, interpersonal and supervisory skills

Management and administrative experience in artist-run centres and/or
cultural organizations

Experience with grant-writing, budgeting and financial statements in
non-profit organizations

Familiarity with artist-run culture, contemporary art and independent
photo/digital art practice

Experience working with Boards of Directors, member-based organizations and
volunteers

A salary of $27,000 will be offered for this position, based on a 30-hour
workweek.

Urban Shaman: Contemporary Aboriginal Art (located in Winnipeg, MB) is
looking for an early?to mid career arts professional to mentor as Assistant
Director with the organization, leading
(after a year) to the full time, permanent position of Executive
Director.??The intent of this program is to provide experience and training
in cultural sector management?through an intensive hands-on mentorship for
an Assistant Director at Urban Shaman, thereby?facilitating long term
stability and growth for the organization and professional development
for?the participant (Assistant Director).??The Assistant Director will work
closely with the current Gallery Director in all facets of
gallery?administration, programming and governance.? This is not an entry
level position.? This is an?advanced mentorship intended for an Aboriginal

Urban Shaman Gallery is an Aboriginal artist run centre dedicated to meeting
