Communications Coordinator
AKA Gallery is seeking a versatile and enthusiastic individual to fill the newly created position of Communications Coordinator. The Communications Coordinator will work with the Board of Directors and the Artistic Director to develop and implement AKA Gallery's communications strategies.
AKA Gallery is an artist-run centre that facilitates the production, presentation, and interpretation of a diversity of contemporary art with an emphasis on innovative artistic practices. AKA aims to be a catalyst for the development and sustainability of a lively and engaged community of artists and audiences.
Job Description
The Communications Coordinator will develop and implement communications strategies to promote AKA's exhibitions and outreach activities.
Responsibilities for the Communications Coordinator include:
• Develop and implement AKA’s annual communication strategies, maintaining an effective and distinct visual signature for the organization in all communications material and media including the web site, newsletter, press releases, invites, didactic materials, membership materials and publications;
• Work with the Artistic Director in the design, editing, and production of promotional materials for the Gallery;
• Coordinate the production of all AKA communications and marketing materials;
• Coordinate the development and maintenance of AKA's volunteer program;
• Coordinate the development and maintenance of AKA’s website;
• Coordinate hospitality for openings, talks and other events;
• Coordinate visual, audio, and textual documentation of AKA facilities and events as required;
• Maintain the AKA database and archives.
Experience Required:
• Excellent command of the English language (written and oral);
• Excellent organizational skills;
• Demonstrated ability in print graphic and web design;
• Knowledge of contemporary art practices;
• Skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design and Dreamweaver strongly preferred.
• Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Remuneration.
The Communications Coordinator is a salaried part-time position starting at $21,000.00 per annum.
25-hours a week. The position will commence as of November 1, 2008.
