Call: SAW Video is seeking emerging artists for national performance opportunity

Galerie SAW Gallery, SAW Video and the Dennis Tourbin Fund for Emerging
Artists are proud to call for two emerging regional artists to present
new performance works during the opening reception of the national
conference Performance Creation Canada.
Your submission should include:
- A 50-word description of the work you would like to present
- A curriculum vitæ with full mailing address, telephone number and
e-mail
- Only e-mail submissions with no attachments are accepted. Please paste
your description and CV in the body of your e-mail. Send your submission
to sawprogramming@artengine.ca.
- 2 artists will be selected from a shortlist of 5.
- We encourage artists from diverse cultural communities to apply.
- We encourage artists working in disciplines other than performance
creation to apply.
- Board members and staff of Galerie SAW Gallery and SAW Video, and
steering committee members of Performance Creation Canada are not
eligible to apply.
- The performances will be presented in the SAW outdoor courtyard.
- Only one submission accepted per artist.
- No phone or e-mail inquiries.
Deadline for submissions: Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at 5PM
The selected artists will each receive an honorarium of $1,000, access
to video equipment for their presentation, professional documentation
and the opportunity to present their work to many of Canada's best and
brightest dance, theatre, visual and media art professionals.
The opening reception will take place at Galerie SAW Gallery on Tuesday,
June 12, 2007, from 9PM to 2AM.
This commissioning project is generously supported by The Dennis Tourbin
Fund for Emerging Artists, an endowment fund administered by the
Community Foundation of Ottawa. It is a permanent tribute to the greatly
respected late Ottawa artist and his legacy. The fund seeks to encourage
emerging artists to carry out creative works of art that cross
disciplines and traditional boundaries, as well as expand the
presentation of art outside of the gallery walls into the public arena,
reaching new audiences and engaging community.
