Call: Luc Ferrari radio art biennial competition is seeking entries

*Concours Luc Ferrari*

www.alamuse.com

*Concours Luc Ferrari*
Concours international de création radiophonique

Every other year, La Muse en Circuit organizes an international competition of radio music composition open to young artists, in partnership with the Archipel Festival, the SACEM, Radio France, and foreign radio stations (Radio Suisse Romande / Espace 2, Deutschland RadioKultur).

The 8th biennial competition created by Luc Ferrari is inspired by a piece from his work, Madame de Shanguai for a flute trio and pre-recorded track.

Both a way of paying tribute to Mr. Ferrari as well as a means of stimulating the imagination of composers, the current competition asks participants to write a piece that develops the principal of the Horspiel.

The entries should resemble mixed music but without any interaction other than the synchronization of an instrument with stereophonic or 5.1 support. The instrumental score will be able to be amplified and transformed except for computerized real time processing. The final piece, with a maximum duration of 15 minutes, will be performed in concert.

The winning entries as well as the piece written by Luc Ferrari will be featured on disc as well as in concerts associated with the competition.

We hope that this tradition of honoring Mr. Ferrari will be stimulating and likely to give rise to new talents and not just epigones. You will thus find attached the application form. We hope that it will be possible for you to leave them at disposal of musicians. You can also contact us by email to have more informations :

Call: Audio art sought for Canadian Electroacoustic Society's 60x60 Project

Call for Works for the first Canadian 60x60 Project (2008)*

Vox Novus, in collaboration with the Canadian Electroacoustic Community
(CEC), is inviting composers to submit recorded works 60 seconds or less
in duration to be included in the first Canadian version of the annual
60x60 project. 60 compositions will be selected to be played
continuously in a one-hour concert. The Canadian 60x60 concert season
will begin with a debut in Montréal and continue throughout Canada in
venues to be announced. Concerts may also include a visual component (a
clock, video clips, spectrographs, dance, etc.). The works will also be
broadcasted on radio stations and featured on a Sonus.ca dedicated
gallery. Please submit your recorded work(s) and submission form(s)
before 31 March (postmarked). You may submit your works online or on a
CDR; see submission guidelines below. Your work may be selected for
both the Canadian and the International 60x60 projects.

During the concert each of the 60 pieces selected will begin precisely
at the beginning of the minute, this will mark the end of one piece and
the beginning of another. There will be no pause between the pieces.
Works may be less than 60 seconds in length, but may not exceed 60
seconds. Selected works that are shorter than 60 seconds will be
"padded" with silence either before, after, or surrounding the
composition. Please note that the total duration of the work including
silence may NOT exceed sixty seconds.

Eligibility:
The call is open to composers of all ages and career stages who live in
Canada, and to Canadian composers living in Canada or abroad. All other
composers may participate in the international 60x60 project (see below).

Eligible works:
Any sound or music captured on recorded media, which does not require
live performers for its presentation in concert. The piece may be of
any style and may comprise electronic sounds, field recordings,
recordings of voice or musical instruments, or other sound sources.
Recordings of acoustic compositions SHOULD NOT be accompanied by musical
scores. Works submitted should be created specifically for this project
and must not have been previously performed or broadcasted.

This year's 7th Annual New Music Festival is a landmark year. After 6
years of celebrating Women in New Music the festival will move to an
inclusive format - celebrating works by women composers alongside
works by men composers! We look for inclusive in programming and works
that bridge the divide between gender, culture, media.

After careful consideration, the one thing that will remain intact is
the International Women's Electroacoustic Listening Room Project. As I
have traveled throughout the US, Canada and Europe with the
International Women´s Electroacoustic Listening Room Project I have
found that this is an area of vital research and empowerment for women
composers internationally and needs to be continued. This year's call
for electroacoustic works by women composers focuses on theme of
"healing."

International Women's Electroacoustic Listening Room Project: The
Women in New Music Festival features day-long playback of works by
women in electroacoustic music. During the 6 hours of the
electroacoustic listening room the listener's mind is immersed in the
sounds of diverse compositional voices of women composers in
electroacoustic music from over 20 different countries from around the
globe.

The Women's Electroacoustic Listening Room strives to present a
diverse sampling of different approaches to electronic music, with
examples from classical computer music, environmental music, and
meditative music to works that expand acoustic virtuosity and
improvisation with virtual instruments to sonic documentaries that
capture the inner workings of the mind: horror, humor and the
unfolding of human dramas. This year the Women's Electroacoustic
Listening Room focuses on the theme of Inclusive Voices: Healing the
Divide.

Submit your proposed CD recording of electronic work for inclusion in
the International Women´s Electroacoustic Listening Room Project.
Maximum length 12 minutes.

Please include: CD of proposed work, submission information: Title of
work, length of work, name of composer, contact information, program
