Job: Common Weal Community Arts, Inc. seeks a Community Consultant

Common Weal Community Arts Inc., in partnership with the North Central Community Association, is seeking an energetic, self-motivated and experienced individual for the contract position of Community Consultant.

The candidate will assist in creating new opportunities for the community of North Central Regina that will help facilitate, encourage and increase community and cultural involvement and development. The project will promote diversity and support the strengthening of individual and collective identity.

The individual will work with the community to do a cultural inventory and community needs assessment, which will lead to the identification of the community’s wants and needs regarding a prospective artist in residence project and will include detailed goals and objectives. The candidate will also research and determine the financials, support, administrative and artistic mediums needed to support the residency based on the needs of the community.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organizational and research skills, the ability to work both independently and cooperatively with a diverse group of people and to be culturally sensitive. Understanding of the arts and arts issues in Saskatchewan and experience with grant writing is preferred.

Duration: April to June 2008

Call: "Northern Bound: Video Art of Northern Ireland" seeks video art submissions

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
NORTHERN BOUND: VIDEO ART OF NORTHERN IRELAND

Northern Bound is a video screening focusing on works from Northern
Ireland, or on the subject of Northern Ireland. The program will be
formed around single-channel videos answering to political, and or
religious, identity issues of Northern Ireland, or works concerning
matters of borders and boundaries of Northern Ireland. Experimental
video approaches only.

Videographe is an artist-run center devoted to the creation,
dissemination, and distribution of independent media art. For over 35
years Videographe has felicitated new practices in media art, video
documentary and short films locally and internationally.

ENTRY CRITERIA
Submissions must be produced in Northern Ireland or on the subject of
Northern Ireland.
Length: 15-20 min MAX

SUBMISSION DEADLINE
All material must arrive in Belfast or Montreal by WEDNESDAY AUGUST 1, 2007

Please include synopsis and any available stills, press kits, bios,
and clippings with your entry.

SELECTION
The Videographe Curatorial Committee will make selection of all video works.

HOW TO ENTER
Formats accepted: DVD and Mini DV (NTSC or PAL). Artist may submit
more than one entry compiled on a DVD and all submissions must be
accompanied by a signed entry form (photocopies acceptable). Cassettes
must be clearly labeled with the title of entry and the entrant's
name.

SHIPPING
Cost of Shipping must be prepaid and is the responsibility of the
entrant. All cassettes/discs must be labeled with the title of entry
and the entrant's name. All entries must be clearly marked, on the
outside of package: NO COMMERCIAL VALUE - FOR CULTURAL PURPOSES ONLY.
Customs declarations must indicate a minimum value ($5). Entries
arriving with duty/tax owing will be refused.

Return of Video/Promotional Material
Preview Cassettes/discs and promotional material will not be returned.

Disclaimer
While all due care and attention will be exercised, the committee
cannot accept or assume responsibility for damage or lass of materials
submitted.

The mandate of Nunavut Film is to foster and promote growth of the
Film, Television and New Media industry in the Territory of Nunavut,
across Canada and globally.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be
responsible for: implementing Business and Strategic Plans; managing
funding processes; promoting growth of the film, television and new
media industry; managing the Nunavut Film office; establishing
effective partnerships; and marketing Nunavut as a viable filming
location to producers worldwide.

To be considered for this position you must have a solid working
knowledge of the film, television, and new media industry, be outgoing,
and highly organized with strong public relation skills. Experience
evaluating projects and budgets; knowledge of funding agencies related
to the industry, with the ability to write proposals, seek grants and
manage program funds and budgets would be an asset. Ideally you would
have a degree in film, media studies, communications or other related
degree with experience working in a cross-cultural environment.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated
abilities will be given equal consideration.
